Larry D. Collins
Larry D. Collins, 66, of Sandy Creek, NY, passed away on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 at Upstate University Hospital. Born in Plattsburg, N.Y., he was the son of the late Owen and Louise Collins.
Larry served in the Navy from 1964 to 1968 on the USS Wasp, and participated in the recovery of Gemini Spacecraft in the Pacific. After his service in the Navy he worked in Syracuse as a machinist and then for various construction companies in the area.
He was predeceased by his son Timothy Collins. Surviving are his daughters, Audrey (Marcus) Easterling of Avondale, AZ, Tammie Horton of Mexico, NY, Tina Moseuk of Mexico, NY, granddaughters; Nevaeh Easterling, Victoria Horton and Amber Moseuk, brothers; Lance (Rita) Collins of Sandy Creek, NY, John (Linda) Collins of Sandy Creek, NY, sisters; Sheila (Jim) Clark of Sandy Creek, NY, Linda Booth of Watertown, NY, Deborah Collins of Watertown, NY and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Larry was an avid Nascar fan and worked as a crew member on race cars for family and friends. He always enjoyed summers at boat beach with family and friends.
Calling hours will be Friday, Dec. 27,from 5 to 7 pm with services to follow at Summerville Funeral Home in Sandy Creek. Spring burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sandy Creek.
