Pauline "Polly" Bates, age 85, of Petersburg, TN, passed away Friday, December 20, 2013. She was born on September 5, 1928 in Lincoln County, TN to the late William M. and Jimmie Lou Gibson Fenner. She was a homemaker and a member of Heritage Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lester Bates; brother, JR Fenner; and grandchildren, Wendy Moore, Abigail Bates, Tommy Bates and Daniel Bates. She is survived by her daughter, Andrea P. Bates of Belfast, TN; sons, David & Lisa Bates of Merritt Island, FL, Billy Bates of Fayetteville, TN, Sam Bates of Petersburg, TN, Roy & Karen Bates of Fayetteville, TN, Bobby & Ann Bates of Petersburg, TN, Kevin & Kathy Bates of Petersburg, TN; sister, Mary Catherine Gray of Tullahoma, TN; 28 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. Funeral services are Monday, December 23, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Bro. Phil Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Melson Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.
