RUSHFORD, Minn. — Robert Louis Boehmke, 84, of Rushford died Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at Winona Health in Winona, Minn.

Robert was born Oct 5, 1929, in Wiscoy Township, Minn., to Carl and Hazel (Feine) Boehmke. He was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Hart, Minn. Robert grew up in Hart and attended St. John Parochial School. He farmed with his father at Hart for several years. He worked at Fiberite in Winona, for a few years and then became a contractor working in the Rushford area for over 40 years. He loved working in his vegetable and flower gardens, selling his produce and often times giving it away. He was a sports fan and loved cheering on his favorite teams, the Packers, Cubs and Twins, and also enjoyed following local sports teams. In his retirement he was busy watching the birds outside his window, putting puzzles together, and watching his flowers bloom. Robert belonged to St. Mark Lutheran Church where he served on many church boards.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Maxine; children, Debra Manion of Big Lake, Minn., Gloria (Rich) Urbich of Minnesota City, Lynne (Allen) Eide of Savage, Cindy (Tom) McManimon of Chatfield, and Scott Boehmke of Rushford; three sisters, Shirley Bublitz of Henderson, Nev., Roberta Anderson of Rushford, Marcella Boehmke of Winona; two brothers, Charles Boehmke of Rushford, and Louis Boehmke of Lake City, Minn.; 11 grandchilden; and 11 great-grand-children.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen; one grandchild, Kari Eide; son-in-law, Gerald Manion; and his parents.

The family prefers memorials directed to St. Mark Lutheran Church.

The funeral service for Robert will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Rushford, with the Rev. Merlin Stephan officiating. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in Rushford, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. In keeping with his wishes, following the funeral service, Robert's body will be cremated with burial of his cremated body in the spring, at St. John (Brand) Cemetery in Hart, Minn.
