James R. Pryor, 91, of 19839 Scott Hill Drive, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at his home. Born Nov. 9, 1910, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late James Walter and Olive Idella Wolfe Pryor.
He was a 1930 graduate of Hagerstown High School. He was employed by Columbia Vending Corp.; Pangborn Corp.; and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1975. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the infantry in Europe. He was a Protestant. He was a member of NARFE; American Legion Morris Frock Post 42; and BPO Elks 378.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth M. Pryor; a daughter, Mary Ann Brewer of Morehead City, N.C.; a son, Richard A. Pryor of Hagerstown; grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, James M. Pryor; two sisters, Frances Pryor Mills and Catherine Pryor Delauter; and four brothers, Morris W. Pryor, Lauren W. Pryor, Harold G Pryor and Earl H. Pryor.
Services were held at Minnich Funeral Home; burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
