John Kellar
John W. Kellar, M.D., 79, of Galt, died Feb. 20 in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 13, 1925, in Mussoorie, India.

Mr. Kellar graduated from Pacific Union College in 1951, and then from Loma Linda University in 1957 with a degree in medicine.

He worked as an intern at San Bernardino County Hospital from 1957 to 1958. He had his own general practice in Stockton from 1958 to 1989.

He was a former member of the San Joaquin Foundation for Medical Care and PSRO. He was also a medical director at the Health Care Evaluation, Inc. up until his death.

He was also a board member of Healthcare Foundation Inc. He was the Medical Director for Arbor Convalescent Hospital in Lodi since 1991, and since 1993 he was the Regional Medical Director of the Good Samaritan Convalescent Hospital in Stockton.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Kellar, of Galt; son, John Kellar; daughter, Nancy Wageman; step-daughters, Kathy Cabanya, Susan Bergna, Karen Miller and Jeanne Coffey; step-son, Gilbert Downer; sister, Virginia Cooper; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. March 6 at the Stockton Central Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1314 N. Madison St. Inurnment will be private at Cherokee Memorial Park.
