West, was born on Oct. 2, 1965, in Lake Charles, La., to Rosa Mary Skipper and the late Joseph Wilmore. She is the second of four children born to Rosa.
Kim was raised in Warren United Methodist Church under the direction of the Rev. Jackson and was baptized at the age of 12. She has been a lifelong devout Christian at Warren, where she attended Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and was a member of the Methodist Youth Group and children, youth and adult choirs.
Kimberly graduated from W.O. Boston High School in May of 1983. She was a great student, who excelled in her studies. She was in the school choir, a member of 4-H and the Delsprites, and a flag girl in the school’s band. She served on the Homecoming Court as Mrs. Defense.
Kimberly met and married her first husband, Mark Simon, at the age of 18. They had two daughters, Chanielle Lynn and Nicole Monique. She met and in later years, married her current husband, Arthur West.
She leaves her memories to be cherished by her husband, Arthur West; her two daughters, Chanielle Lynn Skipper-Collins (Darnell) and Nicole Monique Simon; her mother, Rosa Mary Smith; her sister, Tonya Rose Skipper-Thomas (Paul Jr.); and her two brothers, Damon Troy Skipper Sr. (Janice) and Jason Christopher Young; her grandchildren, Jaymon, Jhalissia, Jaymarkus, Jhaleah, Jarvis, Ariona and Jadah; her aunts, Josephine (Frank) Reed, Marjorie (Melvin) Franklin and Cynthia (Conley) Franklin; her uncle, Henry (Patricia) Skipper; and eldest cousin, Claude (Johnnie) Syas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special family and friends.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. today, Dec. 21, in Warren United Methodist Church. Visitation is from 11 – 1 p.m. today in the church.
