Delbert was born June 17, 1927 in Aberdeen, S.D. to Dewey Frederick Youngerman and Laura Bertha Schwiesow Youngerman. Delbert served as a mechanic in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On September 10, 1949, he married Constance Jacqueline Carstens in Huron, S.D. They raised five children, Dennis, Debra, Danelle, David and Douglas. They later divorced. He lived in Huron before moving to Idaho Falls in 1997.
