Funeral services were held Saturday for James Lewis, 43, who was killed in an airplane crash. The twin-engine aircraft crashed on the Bruno Schulz ranch about 9 a.m. after Lewis had filed a flight plan for a trip to Midland. The Federal Aviation Administration conducted an investigation of the tragedy, and their report is not known yet.
Lewis was an independent oil man and real estate dealer, and was married to Barbara Halstead. He was chairman of the Kerr County republican organization and a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
His Survivors include two sons, Robert and James III, and three daughters, Sharon and Laura Ann, all of Houston, and Laura of Kerrville.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, and interment was in the Garden of Memories.
