Gloria Hansen, 81, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 19, 2013 at The Gables of Ammon.

Gloria was born August 5, 1932 in Rexburg, Idaho, to Dean Leroy Hinckley and Sarah Ida Barney. She grew up and attended schools in Rexburg. She attended Madison High School where she was valedictorian of her class, Ricks College for three years, and Eastern Idaho Technical College for a year in 1983. She received her degree as a Registered Nurse.

She spent 20 years in Rexburg before moving to Idaho Falls, where she has resided for the last 61 years.

On March 27, 1951 she married Lyle Fullmer Hansen in the Idaho Fall LDS Temple. From this union they were blessed with two sons: Craig and Mark; and a daughter, Deanna.

Gloria started teaching piano when she was 19 years old until 2000. She taught numerous students in the area. She worked as a registered nurse at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center from 1983 until 1992.

Gloria was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various capacities, including organist for 50 years and Young Women's President. She was involved in the Idaho Falls Music Club and served as Junior Music Scholarship Chairman.

She loved to travel the world with Lyle, enjoying each other and the many sites, her favorite being their condo in Hawaii.

Gloria enjoyed playing the piano and organ, fishing Henry's Lake, snowmobiling, waterskiing, golfing at Star Valley Ranch, and going to many activities for her grandchildren.

She loved knitting and she knitted many Christmas socks for all the family, the last one being given in July to a great-grandchild. They will always be a treasured gift. Due to her arthritis she could no longer knit.

Survivors include her loving husband, Lyle F. Hansen, of Idaho Falls; son, Craig L. (Robyn) Hansen, of Idaho Falls; brother, Frank L. (Norma) Hinckley, of Idaho Falls; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Grace Hinckley; a son, Mark L. Hansen; and a daughter, Deanna H. Isaacson.

The family will visit with friends from 10-11:00 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2013 at Wood East Side (963 S. Ammon). Burial will be at 11:30 at Rose Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the LDS Philanthropies at BYU-I to the Deanna H. Isaacson Piano Memorial Endowment or the Scleroderma foundation (300 Rosewood Drive, Suite 105, Danvers, MA 01923) in memory of Mark L. Hansen.
