DERYL LAVERNE DRANE, 87 STOCKTON - Deryl LaVerne Drane, 87, of Stockton passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013, at Stockton Healthcare and Rehab. He was born March 26, 1926, in Freeport, the son of the late Lyle and Blanche (Simmons) Drane. He married Betty Louise Drane on March 18, 1956, at the Davis United Methodist Church in Davis. Deryl served in the United States Military from September 1944 to July 1947. He worked on a farm and was employed at Kraft in Stockton for several years. Deryl enjoyed golfing, watching high school sports, doing crossword puzzles, reading books, being outdoors, and spending time with family. He adored and was extremely proud of all of his grandchildren and great- grandchildren, which he often referred to as his "sweeties."
Deryl is survived by his two sons, Bruce (Rose Fritz) and Kevin (Suzette) all of Stockton; and nine grandchildren, Greg (Kali) Drane, Tara (Steve) Burris, Doug (Nicolette) Drane, Tiffany (Mick) Schubert, Mike Paisley, Max Paisley, all of Stockton, Stephanie (Aaron Brown) of Washington, IL, Michelle Paisley of Lanark, and Marty Paisley of Ulman, Mo. He is also survived by 19 great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Agnes Drane of Pearl City; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; brother, Ralph Drane of Pearl City; and grandson, Mathew Paisley of Stockton. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 23, at the Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton, with the Rev. Brenda Morris presiding. Interment will take place at Townsend Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the funeral service. A memorial fund has been established. Condolences may be sent to the family at hermannfuneralhome.com.
