His wife, Lorraine Nazelrod, died in 1984.
He was employed by Boeing and previously with Fairchild Industries. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Korean conflict.
He was a former member of the Masons in New Castle, and American Legion Funkstown Post 211.
He is survived by two stepdaughters, Jeanette F. Castle of Bel Air, Md., and Carolyn Rhodes of Winchester, Va.; three stepsons, George W. Mills of Williamsport, Donald R. Mills of Salem, Tenn., and James R. Mills of Norfolk, Va.; two sisters, Thelma Rizer of Cleveland, and Phyllis Flanders of North Fort Myers, Fla.; three brothers, Jack Nazelrod and Victor D. Nazelrod, both of Hagerstown, and Justin E. Nazelrod of El Paso, Texas; 11 stepgrandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services were held at the Minnich Funeral Home; burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown, with military honors by American Legion Post 42.
