USMA Class of 1875.

He was the son of William H. Bush and Eliza A. Clark. He was appointed a Cadet on July 1, 1871. After graduation he entered the United States Army as a 2nd Lieut. assigned to the 5th Artillery on June 16, 1875. On January 8, 1880 he married Eleanor Adams Stanton in Washington, D.C. She was the daughter of former Secretary of War, Edwin McMasters Stanton and Ellen Maria Hutchinson. They had one daughter, Eleanor Adams Stanton Bush, born January 1, 1882. He was promoted to 1st Lieut. on November 1, 1885. He became Captain of the 7th Artillery on March 8, 1898. He was transferred to the Artillery Corps on February 2, 1901. He was promoted to Major on February 21, 1903.
