Tracy Strong Jr. of Meridian, Idaho, passed away on March 31, 2013.

Tracy was born Sept 4, 1915 in Seattle, Washington to Edith Robbins Strong and Tracy Strong Sr. He moved with his family to Geneva, Switzerland where his Father was General Secretary of the World's Committee of the YMCA. Tracy attended Swiss and German schools until 1932 when he enrolled at Oberlin College, in Oberlin, Ohio. He graduated in 1937 and enrolled in Yale Divinity School receiving a Master's degree in 1940. He immediately went to Europe as a traveling secretary for the European Student Relief fund headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland working first in Germany visiting POW camps before re-assignment to France working with student refugees in the internment camps and starting a foyer/hotel for mainly Jewish refugee students. After France became occupied he returned to Switzerland where he continued with the ESRF with a part time job as chaplain to American aviators interned in Switzerland. He joined the US Army in London in 1944 and was a member of the US occupying force in Berlin, Germany until 1949 when he returned to the US and spent one year at Stanford receiving a second masters in education. He married Dolphine Drabek in 1946 and they had one daughter born in Berlin in 1947, Terry. He spent three years teaching at Coalinga High School in Calif. The family had grown with a son, Anthony and a daughter, Lauretta. The whole family traveled to Beirut, Lebanon where he was assistant principal at International college for 5 years. They returned to the states in 1958. He continued his teaching career at the Garden Grove School District in Orange County, Calif. Where he eventually became Principal at Rancho Alamitos High School for ten years before retiring in 1980. His wife and he in addition to driving through the entire US took trips to China, New Zealand, and several European tours until 1988 when he moved to Caldwell, Idaho and eventually to Meridian, Idaho. He is survived by his 3 children: Terry Anise, Laguna Hills, CA; Tony Strong, Olympia, WA and Lauretta Kiser in Meridian, ID. He has 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolphine, a brother and a sister.

We invite Tracy's friends to a celebration of his life on Sat. April 20th, James Place Clubhouse, 2299 N. Crooked Creek in Meridian from 1pm to 3pm.
