DEATH TAKES MRS. BABCOCK
Mrs. Christina Babcock, age 70, died yesterday afternoon at 1:45 pm, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. I. Wilson, 309 East Lincolnway. She had been in poor health for several months and about three weeks ago she came to her daughter's home to recuperate, but gradually failed. She was a woman of remarkable activity and active in community affairs.
Christina Louise Gustafson, the daughter of Nelson and Anna Gustafson, was born in Gottenborg, Sweden, May 29, 1858, and would have been seventy years of age this month.
At the age of eleven years she came to America with her parents and settled near Babcock Station. She was confirmed in the Swedish Lutheran chruch at Porter, Ind., on April 13, 1873.
She was married to William H. Babcok, in January 1876, who preceded her in death thirteen years ago. There was born to this union eleven children, seven of whom survive. Roy W. Babcock, of Crocker; Charles V. Babcock, of Chesterton; Loyal G. Babcock, of Valparaiso R,F.D.; Mrs. W. I. Wilson and Mrs. Carl A. Dalke, of this city and Dewey and Wayne Babcock, with whom she made her home on a farm near the St. Clair school house.
She also leaves to mourn, one sister, Mrs. Anna C. Eglin of this city, and one brother, A. F. Gustafson, residing on a farm south of this city. Also fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held from the farm home, where the remains will be removed Friday morning, on Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock standard time, with burial at Robbins cemetery.
