SOUTH BEND - Susie Blue - Jackson was born on January 29, 1926, in Woodlawn Community (Haywood County) Brownsville, Tennessee, to George and Virginia (Smith) Blue. She was their third daughter and the fifth child of 13 children. She is lovingly known as Susie Blue - Jackson by family and friends. Susie B. Jackson was a faithful member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in South Bend, Indiana.
On Monday, December 16, 2013, at 12:03 p.m., the angels in heaven with God's charge escorted Susie Blue - Jackson to her heavenly home. She leaves to cherish and carry on her legacy four children, Deborah M. (James) Anderson, Quincy, Florida, Pamela (Earl) Howard, Atlanta, Georgia, Lawrence D, Minor II (her loving caregiver), and Diane (Kevin) Irving, both of South Bend, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Lawrence D. Minor III, Shawna R. (Robinson) Sanders, Jacinta D. Anderson, Rashad L. Minor, Destini Minor, Bianca S. Howard, Bethany S. Howard, Nicole (Richard) Linton and Heather Irving; seven great-grandchildren, Raymond, Davian, Lawrence IV, Richard Jr., Naomi and Vernon; four brothers, Ben Blue of Tennessee, John Blue of Wisconsin, Giles Blue of Washington and Emerson of Illinois; two sisters, Carlene Scott of Washington and Opal Gill of Illinois; three sisters-in-law, Claudia Welch, Naomi Phillips and Ruth Jackson, all of South Bend, Indiana; nieces, nephews and cousins who loved and adored her dearly.
