Gus T. Crawford, a Citizen of the Choctaw Nation(Original Enrollee) by 1/4 blood quantum, was Born in Polk County Arkansas to George W. And Talitha(Morris) Crawford. He, along with much of his family migrated to Oklahoma(Indian Territory) nearing the end of the 1890's. He married Rebecca(Beckie) Slusher around 1898. Their first child, Ollie May was born in 1899. George, their second child, was born in 1901. Shortly after George was Born, Gus was convicted for "disposing" (selling liquor) in Atoka and sentenced to incarceration at Leavenworth Prison in Kansas(inmate# 2763). Upon his release in May 1903, Gus returned to Oklahoma. His wife became ill and died in September 1904. In December of the same year his father, George W., Jr. died. In March of 1905, Gus was briefly married to Emilie A. Moore. On June 20, 1906, Gus was united in marriage to Ida Morrison in Pontotoc, Oklahoma. Following that union, Stella was born 1908. His Daughter, Ollie, from his previous marriage was tragically killed in a house fire in 1909. Desa was born in 1910 and Edna, 1915. On the evening of October 31, 1915, Gus was called outside his home near Stonewall by a mans voice. When he stepped outside the door onto the front porch he was murdered by shotgun blast to his "stomach". It is believed Gus was to be called as a material witness on an upcoming trail regarding another murder of which he may have had knowledge. FOOTNOTE: Gus is buried next to Jane Jackson (FAG# 46233632) and their stones match. This burial site was intended for his widow, Ida. She gave this plot to her sister-in-law Julia(Jackson) Morrison for her Mother, Jane, where she is buried next to Gus.
