Mrs. Sarah Althena Ayers died Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Keith Laswell, 256 N. Kellogg St., where she had lived for the past three years. Mrs. Ayers, 65, was a seamstress, and had worked for Bell Furriers for eight years. A daughter of Howell Davis & Mary (Saling) Cupp, she was born Nov. 5, 1886, at Sue City, MO., and was married Sept. 2, 1913, at Kirksville, MO., to Alfred Ayers, who died in 1942. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and an army mother's organization.
Surviving are two sons, Edwin Ayers, with the Army in Germany, and Earle Ayers, with the Air Force at Chanute Field; a daughter, Mrs. Laswell; a brother, William L. Cupp, LaPlata, MO.; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Francis, LaPlata, and Mrs. Emma Shearer, Kirksville, MO.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Kimber and West Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Harry R. Evans of the Emmanuel Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral chapel Sunday.
