John served in WWII in the U.S. navy for five years aboard the USS Quincy and USS Memphis. He was a butcher for 30 years. He was an Elder in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 50 years. John was very active with the youth groups.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joan (Terhune); daughter, Lelabon Dyer (Samuel) of Independence, Missouri, Beth Crank (Paul) of Indianapolis; grandchildren; three great-granddaughters. He is also survived by his siblings, Myrtle Friend, Juanita Bessmer, Newton Crabb, and many nieces and nephews who loved him very much.
Arrangements were entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center - Broad Ripple.
