Lawrence T. Brighton, of Issaquah, Wash., died peacefully in his home on Friday, October 21, 2005. He was 85 years old. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on November 11, 1919, to Joseph and Regina Brighton. Larry was raised in Toledo where he graduated from high school. He served with the Army 94th Infantry Combat Engineers during World War II in the European Theater. Larry had a 37-year career with the government, including the Department of Energy. He retired from government service in 1977. Hallmarks of his career included his efforts in collaboration for technology and management processes and in advocacy for women and minorities in the workplace. His career included service with the Corps of Engineers in Alaska; the Atomic Energy Commission and the Department of Energy and Kaiser Engineers. He was active in his church, Mary Queen of Peace in Sammamish, Washington.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, Doris, he is survived by their 10 children: Kay Williams; Barbara Kelley (Jay); Carol Teller (Joel); Patricia Sexauer (Roland); Teresa Brighton; Michael Brighton; Monica Cassidy (Michael); Larry Brighton Jr; Mary Borrelli; and Jim Brighton; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 am Oct. 26, 2005, at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Sammamish. Interment will be held at 2 p.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA.
