Calvin L. Overmyer, 83, of Tiffin, died at 6:48 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.

Calvin was born March 30, 1930, in Fremont, to Hardy and Myrtle (Myers) Overmyer. He married Betty (Lescallett) Oct. 31, 1953, in Angola, Ind., and she survives in Tiffin.

Survivors also include his daughter, Diane (Richard) Calhoun of Westerville; son, John Overmyer of Tiffin; a grandson, Dr. Richard "Bump" Calhoun and fiancee, Eileen Schmiedebusch, both of Toledo; a brother, Royce (Pat) Overmyer of Green Springs; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Overmyer of Indiana.

Calvin retired from General Electric as a die castor where he worked for 37 years and after retirement worked as a handyman. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church, Tiffin Moose and the General Electric Quarter Century Club. He attended Old Fort Schools. Calvin was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean War.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Melvin, Merton, Maurice Ray, George and Galen Overmyer; and two sisters, Betty Murphy and Lois Stout.

A memorial service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church, Tiffin, with the Rev. Gary Hicks officiating.

There will be visitation for family and friends from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Friday at the church.

Burial will be at the church cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church.
