Mrs. Hess Dies Sunday
Mrs. John H. Hess, a 79 year old life-long resident of Monroe County, died Sunday at 2 p.m. at Monroe County Hospital where she had been a patient for two weeks. Her residence was at 215 Benton Ave. E., Albia.
The daughter of Frank and Ellen Luttrell Judge, she was born October 6, 1885 in Georgetown. Her late husband operated the Hess Drug Store in Albia for fifty years prior to his death in 1951.
Survivors include John F. and James of Albia and Patrick of Los Angeles, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Bell Nolan of San Francisco, Mrs. Martha Sheahon of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Mrs. Ellen Margaret Stopher, Oswego, N.Y., four sisters including Mrs. James Lahart of Albia, three brothers and several grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she also was preceded in death by an infant son.
Services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia with the Rev. Lambert Heinen officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Georgetown. Rosary will be said tonight at the Humeston Funeral Home.
