Professional Football Player. After attending West Warwick High School in Rhode Island, he played collegiate football and baseball at Boston College University. While with the Eagles, he played at the halfback position and was a significant contributor to the 1939 team that reached the Cotton Bowl Game. The following year (1940), he experienced a national championship with the Boston College squad that captured the Sugar Bowl Game title. He achieved All-American status in 1941. Selected by the Chicago Bears during the 8th round of the 1942 NFL Draft, he immediately distinguished himself, as he earned Pro-Bowl honors during his rookie season (1942) while playing at the halfback and kicker positions. That season also saw the Bears reach the NFL Title Game. His career was interrupted while he served as a pilot with the United States Navy during World War II. Upon his return home, he experienced a world championship as the Bears captured the NFL Title in 1946. During that contest, Maznicki provided three extra points and a field goal as the Bears defeated the New York Giants 24 to 14. In 1947, he was acquired by the Boston Yanks and concluded his playing career following that season. He totaled 27 regular season NFL games. After his football career, he returned to West Warwick High School where he worked as a teacher and football coach. He was inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Athletic Hall of Fame in 1971.
