Notes From Collins
(From last week.)
Mr. Daniel Wagner (sic), a pioneer settler of this town, died of pneumonia at
1 o'clock in the morning 3, April 12th, at home, after a week's illness. He was
63 years 1 month and 6 days old at the time of his death. Mr. Wagner was a native
of Germany. When ten years of age he came with his parents to America. They
settled on a farm in this town. Later he acquired a farm of his own, located near
his father's farm, upon which he lived all the rest of his life. He was married
twice. His first marriage took place in 1867. That union was blessed with seven
children-four sons and three daughters. One of the daughters preceded him in death.

His wife died in 1883. He married again in the same year. His second wife bore him
three children-two daughters and one son. He is survived by his widow and nine
children-five sons and four daughters. Four of the sons and three of the daughters
are married. Two brothers also survive, one residing in Minnesota and one on the
old Wagner homestead, the decedent's father's farm.
Mr. Wagner was held in esteem by all who knew hm and his death will be sorrowed
for by a host of friends. The funeral was held on Sunday. A large concourse of
people paid their final tribute to their departed friend by attending his obsequies.
May he rest in peace.
