From the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Monday, July 10, 1916, p. 7:

A surprise wedding, which took place at noon Monday, was that of Miss Avon Dycus of Mr. Julian Armstrong, at the residence of the bride's mother, Mrs. F. E. Dycus, on Hemphill street. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Hoyt M. Dobbs, pastor of the First Methodist Church, with only the immediate family present.

The bride only recently returned from Sweet Briar College, Virginia, having completed her second year there. Both the bride and groom are members of the young society set of the city and have taken part in most of the important affairs in their circle.

Mr. Armstrong is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Armstrong of West Second street.

The bride wore a handsome tailored suit of blue, and hat of fall model. Immediately after the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong left for Lubbock, which will be their home.
