Lloyd Ford, a resident of Jacksonville, Florida was born in Walterboro, SC on April 3, 1926 to the late Shular and Alvonia Ford.

He was educated in public schools in Walterboro. He was a Dock Foreman and member of the International Longshoremen Association, Local 1408, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Mount Olive A.M.E. Church and served faithfully on Usher Board # 1. He was also affiliated with several organizations and clubs including International Longshoremen Association, National Council of Negro Women and Associate Men, Limelighters Social Club, and the Eastside Brotherhood.

Lloyd departed from his earthly life journey on December 13, 2013.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Hortense, and loving children Valerie Robinson (Rum); Wayne Ford, and Wanda Ford Crumpler (Dr. Eric); sisters: Collette Jones and Louise Haynes (Alex); niece: Jestine Gant; sister in law: Carrie Ford; god daughter: Mary Branton (Roscoe); 3 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and a host of sorrowing nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mr. Ford, may be viewed Thursday at Carthage Chapel from 4:00 p.m. Until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday December 20, 2013 at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church, 841 Franklin Street and the interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Carthage Chapel Funeral Home, Inc., 929 West Beaver Street.
