Sara Perrott Rose

GALVESTON - Sara Perrott Rose passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 2, 2003, with her loving daughters by her side. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2003, at Temple B'nai Israel, 3008 Ave. O, Galveston, Texas, with the Rabbi Jimmy Kessler officiating.

Sara was born July 1, 1946, in Bucyrus, Ohio, and was raised in Findlay, Ohio. She graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, with a B.A. in education. She also attended the University of Maryland and Boston University. Sara began her teaching career in 1968, in Washington, B.C., then Boston, Mass. In 1977,

Sara moved to Galveston and began her teaching career with Galveston Independent School District. During her 17 years with GISB, she taught first grade at Morgan Elementary and was H.O.S.T. coordinator at San Jacinto Elementary and C.B. Scott Elementary schools, where she taught the joys of her life. Sara also earned her broker's real estate license in 1983, and worked with Chama Graber Real Estate for 20 years, where she enjoyed working with first time homebuyers.

She loved both professions equally and used both to gently touch many lives with kindness. Over the years, Sara served on the board of directors of Temple B'nai Israel, as president of Temple B'nai Sisterhood, as a member of the Junior League of Galveston County, Inc., and as vice president of Multiple Listing Service of the Board of Realtors of Galveston County. In her spare time, she loved to garden, visit her multitude of friends and spread her special kind of joy around.

Sara was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Jane Auck Perrott; her stepmother, Laura Perrott; and her brother, Peter Perrott.

She is survived by her friend, Henry Pomeroy, Jr.; her daughters, Alyssa Anne Rose of Beijing, China, and Ariana Jane Rose of New York; and their grandmother, Eve Rose of Florida; her sisters and brother, Br. Sue Siferd, Br. Mary Carol Perrott, Br. John S. Rose and wife, Barbara, and Mary Rose; and by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Sara was grateful for the knowledge and caring spirit of Br. Courtney Townsend, Br. Ted Huang, Br. John Costanzi (Austin), Br. Roger Soloway, Br. Bavid Gill, Br. Louis Morettin and all the special staff who treated Sara with kindness. Living with cancer for seven years, she appreciated the many friends who helped her walk the path during her treatments. They made it easier for Sara. She was blessed with the attentions of many close friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made in the name of Sara P. Rose to the C.B. Scott Elementary School Park and Playground Fund, c/o JoNell Fuste, P.O. Box 629, Galveston, TX 77553; or to The Rainbow Connection, 301 University Blvd., Galveston, TX 77555- 0361; or the charity of your choice.
