At-Age Of 71
Graham Taber, next to the last
local descendant of one of Cass
county's pioneer and historic families,
died last night at 9 o'clock
in St. Joseph hospital. Mr. Taber
was 71 years old.
Last member of the Taber fam-
i l y here is now his brother,
Jesse Taber, 87, of 427 Tenth
street.
Graham Taber had been ill with
heart and liver trouble and entered
the hospital on July 21. Immediate
cause of death was pneu-
irionia which he contracted dur-
ing i n a r t i v i i i y in bed. His condi-
lion had been c r i t i c a l for the past
two days and death was not un-
expected.
Mr. Tabor was the son of Paul
and Rose A. Taber, born in Logansport
November 22. 1877. In
his early days, he worked for the
Logansport evening Pharos. Later
he purchased a part interest in the
Argus-Bulletin newspaper at LaPorte.
S e l l i n g out there after several
years, Taber went to Salem, Ore.,
and bought a newspaper. He pub-
lished that for a number of years
and later did advertising and com-
mercial w r i t i n g for magazines and
trade publications. Returning here
a few years ago by making his home.
he wrote historical articles about
Logansport and Cass County,
among which were published locally
and some in the Indianapolis Newspaper.
Mr. Tabor married Pearl D.
Bryant in Garnett, Kansas, who
preceded him in death by 21
years. They had a daughter, who
is now Mrs. Rose A. Strathy of
Seattle, Wash. She has two chil-
dren. The brother here, the
daughter and two grandchildren
are the survivors.
The body was taken to the
Kroeger mortuary and services
are set at 9 a.m. Wednesday
from the St. Vincent church con-
ducted by Mssr. Schall. Burial
will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery
were his wife also is buried.
T h e body will remain at the Kroe-
ger chapel.
Mr. Taber made his home at
1306 Broadway.
