Johnie F. Burton, 85, of Hanna City, IL passed away peacefully at 2:25 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at his home with family by his side.

He was born on Aug. 1, 1928, in Squires, Mo., the son of James Corbet Burton and Lillian Mae "Lillie" Wilson Burton. He married Loretta J. Turner on Dec. 1, 1949, in Mountain Home, Ark.

Surviving are his wife and their two children, Barry (Sandy) Burton of Trivoli and Johnna (Verle) Doubet of Hanna City. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Two brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.

John worked at several jobs in his lifetime before retiring from Caterpillar Tractor in 1982, after 30 faithful years.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and graveside services will be held at a later date at Yates City Cemetery in Yates City.
