Georgia Helen Hunt, who spent nearly all her 98 years as a resident of Springfield, died Tuesday, December 17. She passed on in her sleep at the Manor at Elfindale, which had been her home the past six and one-half years.

Georgia was born August 23, 1915, in Iberia, but came to Springfield as a child. She was the daughter of Claude Mace and Mary Hedge Mace. She was pre-deceased by her parents, by stepfather Clyde Bilyeau, a step brother, two step sisters, a brother, James Robert Mace, and her sister, Eileen "Betty" Ward; and her husband of 50 years, Fred S. Hunt, who died in 2000. She was first married to Fred Hulston from 1935 until 1947 and then struggled as a single mother until she married Fred Hunt in 1950.

Survivors include her daughter Linda Hulston Chancellor and husband Bob of Springfield, a brother, Maurice Mace of Iberia, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great-great grandson, as well as a niece and a nephew.

Georgia was known as "Zsa-Zsa" to her grandchildren, who are Kimberly Carter and husband ,Jeff ,of Austin, TX., Craig Chancellor and wife, Donna ,of Villa Rica, GA., David "Rue" Chancellor of Phoenix, AZ., and Steven Chancellor of Springfield. Great grandchildren are Kyle and Shannon Carter, Justin Chancellor, Mason Chancellor, Jenny Chancellor and three month old great-great grandson Clayton Robert Lee Carr.

She was known to many in the business community as the long-time book-keeper and office manager of Ozark Typewriter Co. Before that, after graduation from Springfield Senior High School, she worked for the Carr Shade Factory and the welfare office. She was a member of Delta Theta Chi business women's sorority; and First and Calvary Presbyterian Church.

Georgia and her husband of 50 years traveled often, to most parts of the United States, to American Legion and World War Two veterans meetings and to visit family members. They were active in the Beaux Belles Dance Club. They also visited Egypt and Israel; and she and her sister, Betty, made a grand tour of the Far East in 1968, ending in Bangkok, Thailand to visit Zsa-Zsa's daughter and grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Manor at Elfindale for nearly seven years of love and care provided Georgia.

Visitation will be held at 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Friday, December 27, at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, followed by a private, graveside funeral service for the family at 1:30 PM at Maple Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Greg Ellis officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to G. Pearson Ward YMCA or First and Calvary Presbyterian Church.
