Obituary, The Bremerton Sun, Friday, Nov. 7, 1958, "Ernie Berg, Freightman Dies at 62. A quarter of a century of service with Black Ball Freight line in Bremerton ended today with the death of Ervin S. (Ernie) Berg os Silverdale, freight dispatcher.
Mr. Berg, 62, died of a cerebral hemorrhage at Harrison Memorial Hospital where he had been confined since Sunday. He had shown no signs of illness previous to this attack, his family said.
He was born in North Dakota, but was reared in this county, coming here with his family 50 years ago. They settled in the Silverdale area and he attended school there.
He was a veteran of World War I and worked for the state for some time before joining the freight company.
Surviving are his wife Pauline at the family home, Silverdale, Rt 1, Box 42; two daughters, Mrs. Gloria DuVall of Seattle and Mrs. Robert Stintzi of Poulsbo; and son, Earl Kent Berg of Poulsbo; five? grandchildren, five sisters and brother, his father, Anton Berg of Bremerton, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Lewis chapel, The Rev. C. Randoy will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn cemetery.
