Floyd County Farmer Accidentally Kills Self

Lockney, Floyd Co, Texas, Dec 26 - W. H. (Bud) Arterburn, 55 years old, prominent farmer, residing four miles northeast of Lockney, Texas, was killed accidentally while returning from a hunt at 4 p.m. Friday. He attempted to climb over a barbed wire fence, when a shotgun which he carried was discharged, the load striking him in the right side, ranging upward, piercing the heart. Death was instantaneous.

An inquest was held by J. H. Brington, Justice of Peace, and a verdict of accidental death by gunshot was rendered.

Arterburn came to Lockney six years ago from Millsap, Parker County, where he was born and reared. He was a member of Lockney Lodge 682, I. O. O. F.

Funeral arrangements are pending awaiting arrival of relatives from California.

He is survived by his wife, son, Andrew Arterburn, and a daughter, Mary Arterburn of Long beach, Cal; Mrs. Guy Hopper of Post City, Mrs. Ben Fields of Tulia and son, Ed Arterburn, NM., and the following children who live in Lockney, Colo.; Morris, W. H. Jr., Sallie Neva and Einora Arterburn.
