Daniel Gene “Dan” Bearden, 63, of Pekin, passed away at 5:56 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist medical center in Peoria.
Born Feb. 6, 1950, in Pekin to Robert and Rose Horn Bearden, he married Donna Jean Fahnders on Oct. 2, 1976, in Pekin.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Tim (Bridget) Bearden; one daughter, Tracie Bearden; one grandson, Connor Bearden; two brothers, Phil Bearden and Michael Bearden; two sisters, Josephine Sommer and Elizabeth Weins; a brother-in-law, Donald (Trina) Fahnders and many nieces and nephews.
His parents and one sister preceded him in death.
Dan worked as a quality analyst at Caterpillar Inc. Previoiusly, he had worked at Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville and Quaker Oats in Pekin.
He was a member of Second Reformed Church in Pekin, UAW Local 974, and was a 32-year member of Empire Masonic Lodge 126 A.F . & A.M. in Pekin.
Dan’s passions in life were singing, playing the guitar, calligraphy and woodworking.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at Second Reformed Church in Pekin. The Rev. Bill Appleyard-Pekich will officiate.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help defray medical expenses.
Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin is in charge of arrangements.
