1st wife of Rev. Ralph Clapp. Mary apparently died from complications of childbirth about a week after her son Alfred's birth.

Daughter of David Dexter and Mary (Pitkin) of Amherst, Connecticut.

Mary was the first of five wives of Ralph Clapp and the mother of his first two children. They married on 22 May 1828.

1. Dexter Elisha Clapp, b; 1830, Union Brigadier General during American Civil War. F/A/G #7690914.

2. Alfred Ralph Clapp, b. 1840, Union Lieutenant during Civil War. Killed in action at Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.
