Son of Job and Hila Podder (should be Potter) Aiken, he was married, worked in the coal industry, lived at 142 Meadville Pike, Franklin, died in Franklin Hospital of a coronary occlusion, per death certificate 83095, whose informant was Mrs. Clark Aiken of the same address. Buried Sep 26 1955.

J. Clark Aiken, 61, 142 Meadville Pike, died at 2:45 pm Friday in Franklin Hospital where he had been admitted a few house earlier. Son of Job Milton Aiken and Mrs. Hila J. Aiken Reed, he was born Dec. 11, 1893 at Strattanville.

He came to Franklin as a young man, worked at Atlantic Refining Co. for 15 years, then operated his own coal business. He worked at Heller's Gulf Station for the past year. A veteran of World War I, he served as a private with the 11th Training Company, 154th Depot Brigade. He was a member of the First Free Methodist Church.

He married Mildred June Johnston March 19, 1926, and she survives, with his mother; eight children, Mrs. James (Lois) Read, Tucson, AZ, Clark D. Aiken, a staff sergeant with the USAF at Saudi Arabia, Mrs. Walter S. (LaWanda) Webb, Albuquerque, NM, Robert C. Aiken, at home, Willard D. Aiken, airman second class with the USAF at Griffis Air Force Base, Rome, NY, Leroy P. Aiken, airman third class with USAF at Yale University, New Haven, CT, Ruth Sandra Aiken and Thomas Warren Aiken at home; 8 grandchildren; and a brother, Frank M. Aiken, Franklin.

Services will be at 2 pm Monday in First Free Methodist Church with Rev. Harry Roushey, pastor, assisted by Rev. Warren A. Chase, former pastor here, officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery with full military rites accorded.
