Charley Bird Jr., 88, Augusta, passed away Monday, December 16, 2013. Viewing Wednesday 6-8 at Headley Funeral Chapel and Service 1:30 pm Thursday, December 19, 2013, at First Christian Church. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
Charley was born in Cedarvale, Kansas on December 13, 1925, to the late Ruby Cable and Charley Stewart Bird. He was a farmer/rancher. On October 27, 1945 at First Christian Church he married Virginia (Arnold) Bird who survives him. He is also survived by son, Chuck Bird and wife Kelley of Augusta; daughter, Kathy Metsker and husband Dale of Augusta; grandchildren Matthew Bird, Kristy Long, Charley Metsker, Tammy Reynard, Cody Bird, Laramie Bird; great grandchildren Jessica Bennington, Lainie Metsker, Kylie Metsker, Amy Kirkpatrick; great great grandchildren Lily Kirkpatrick, Bryson Bennington, Adrian Bennington, Trinity Bennington. He was preceded in death by his daughter Nancy Carol Bird; sisters Audrey Smith, Lucille Bachtel, Isabelle Mount; granddaughter Amy Metsker.
