Kevin Edward Dooley, Sr. 70 of Carmel, was born into eternal life, Saturday, December 14, 2013.

Mr. Dooley was born September 23, 1943 in Stamford, CT to the late George and Susan Dooley. He earned his bachelor's degree in Engineering from the University of Notre Dame , where he also played football.

Mr. Dooley was married in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at Notre Dame, November 6, 1965 to Mary Margaret (Clancy). Soon after his marriage, he served as a Captain in the United States Air Force in the Vietnam War.

Upon completion of his military service, Mr. Dooley entered a lengthy professional career building restaurants for several companies, ultimately retiring from Steak ‘n Shake, Inc. as the Vice President of Development and Construction. He would often give travel directions via the waypoints of the countless establishments he built across the country!

Mr. Dooley was a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, where he spent 20 years coaching CYO basketball. He and Mary had most recently been parishioners of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. Together with his wife, he was a member of the Italian Society in Indianapolis, where he enjoyed playing bocce ball.

In addition to his memberships, Mr. Dooley was an avid classic car enthusiast, with many desirable and enjoyable examples passing through his collection. He particularly enjoyed travel to Ireland, making several trips. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, his dogs, and relaxing in the pool.

Mr. Dooley leaves a large and loving family. His survivors include, his loving wife Mary; sons, Mike (wife Leah), Pat, Kevin, Jr., and Tom (wife Kerri); brother, Dr. George Dooley, III; and grandchildren, Ryan Elizabeth, Quinn Elise, Sage Lillian, Grace, Greta, Finnegan, and Silvia.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Dooley was preceded in death by his infant son, Brian.

Friends are invited to gather with the family for visitation, 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, in Leppert Mortuary-Carmel.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 19, 2013 in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Carmel. Burial with military honors will follow in Carmel Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial gifts take the form of donations to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
