Troy Dock Kennedy July 1, 1914 - Nov. 1, 2013 Mr. Troy Dock Kennedy, 99, of Winston-Salem, NC died Friday, November 1, 2013 at his home. He was born July 1, 1914 in Appling County, GA, the son of the late, James Isham and Lilly Sellers Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy joined Konnoak Baptist Church in 1953 where he served as a Deacon. At the time of his death, he was its oldest member. He was a charter member of the Piedmont Chapter of the Model A Ford Restorers Club. From 1942 until 1945 he worked in the Defense Industry at the shipyard in Brunswick, Ga. For 12 years he was a Driver and a Driver Trainer for McLean Trucking Company and for 35 years he was Maintenance Supervisor at College Village Apartments in Winston-Salem. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lou Kennedy; two sisters, Hortense Tippins and Frances Craven; eight brothers, James L. Kennedy, Ted Kennedy, Grady Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Ubie Kennedy, Dan Kennedy, and Eugene Kennedy and Don Kennedy, who died in infancy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Smith Kennedy of the home; one son, Troy Wayne Kennedy and wife, Tweetie of Belhaven, NC; one daughter, Mary Lois Kennedy of Cummins, GA; five grandchildren, Laurie Kennedy Bray of Albuquerque, NM, Troy Jeffery Kennedy and wife, Teri of Ft. Worth, TX, Sheila Kennedy Connelly and husband, Pat of Rolesville, NC, Ross Walker and wife, Nicole of Cummins, GA and Edward Taylor Kennedy of Winston-Salem, NC; nine great grandchildren, Emily Connelly, Quintin Dock Bray, Mary Kate Connelly, Troy Matthew Kennedy, Jack Connelly, Gavin Kennedy, Logan Kennedy, Ashton Walker and Holden Walker; one step daughter, Linda Hensley and husband, Johnny of Burnsville, NC; and three step grandchildren, Amanda Ballew, Julie Ball and Steven Hensley. The funeral service will be conducted Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Konnoak Baptist Church with Pastor John Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
