William Marshall was born in South Carolina on March 10, 1799. He married Charity Wright around 1817. They had 10 children. Between 1822 and 1825 they migrated to Miami County, Ohio from South Carolina in a wagon covering a distance of 700 miles. They first settled on the Stillwater, but ended up in Darke County where William died soon after. He was buried at Union Joint Cemetery, Ludlow Falls, Miami County, Ohio. William is of English ancestry but his parents are unknown. Based on recent yDNA results he has "Snipes" ancestry but the connection to that family is unknown at this time.
