Katie A. Bright, age 53 years, of Milford, NJ, died at the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ after a two-year battle with cancer. Born to Doris Rohn Bright of Lakeside, Ohio and the late Rev. Harry E. Bright, she grew up in Ohio and had resided in Milford the past five years, having previously lived in Flemington, NJ and South Plainfield, NJ. Katie spent most summers working in Lakeside, OH.

Ms. Bright received her BA in Art from Akron University, Akron, Ohio and then went on to receive her MA in Dance Movement Therapy from Goddard College, Plainfield, VT. She was a self-employed Educational Therapist, Tutor and Consultant. A former Vice-President and multi-term Board Member of the International Dyslexia Association, she received the Outstanding Achievement Award from the NJ Chapter. She had a passion for her profession, a love of her students and great admiration for their parents.

Always willing to lend a hand, her volunteer spirit was recognized by The Beautification Award from the Milford Merchants Association in 2003.

Surviving, in addition to her mother, are a sister and brother-in-law, Laurie B. and Brian Beam of Wooster, OH; two nieces, Lisa Beam of Cleveland, OH and Ashley Beam of Wooster, OH; her companion of the last fifteen years, Peter O’Grady of Bloomfield, NJ, and many loving friends whom she considered as family.
