CB Watkins of Tullahoma passed away December 15th, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family at the age of 74. CB was born January 8th, 1939 in Mulberry, Tennessee to the late Thomas and Lettie Sons Watkins. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Doyal, Harold, Bill, Mutt, Joe, and Jim Watkins, and one sister, Josephine Watkins Bost. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Barbara Jean Hall Watkins of Tullahoma; daughter, Darlene Buckner and husband Johnny; son, Frank Watkins and wife Lisa both of Tullahoma; grandchildren, Toni Jenkins and husband Tom, Danny Buckner, Erica Watkins and Cameron Watkins; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Catherine Adams of Illinois; one brother, Jack Watkins of Tullahoma; numerous nieces and nephews; special nephew, Billy Bost; friend, Kent Walden; and all his "boys" from the Tullahoma Fire Department. CB graduated in 1959 from THS, the first high school graduate in his family. He enlisted in the National Guard Army in 1956 and retired in 1992 as Master Sergeant, serving 34 years. In 1959, he was hired by the city of Tullahoma as a police officer, graduating from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Academy, class number two. An opening came for a full time fireman and he became a fireman. During his 48 and 1/2 years with the city, he held the position of the first Building Inspector and Fire Inspector. In 1975 he became the Fire Chief, which he held until his retirement. CB worked as a golf caddy at the Tullahoma Golf Course, where the present day football field is. He sold newspapers for the Tullahoma News and was a repo man for People's Finance. He worked part time for Grants Department Store and Tullahoma Cable Vision and Associates Capitol and also worked at the Marshall Theatre. He enjoyed his children and instilled in them work ethics. He enjoyed cooking, especially catering for several people and companies throughout his career. He also loved Christmas and the Toys for Tots program. CB adored his grandchildren and enjoyed being with them and he had a special bond with each one of them. Visitation for Mr. Watkins will be held on Monday, December 16th, 2013 from 4:30-8:00pm at Kilgore Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 17th, 2013 at 2:00pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marty Nutter and Vicar Brandon Carlone officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Tullahoma with members of the Tullahoma Fire Department Honor Guard serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, CB requested memorials be directed at the Tullahoma Fire Department Toys for Tots Program, 613 South Jackson Street, Tullahoma, Tennessee 37388 or to Faith Lutheran Church, 101 Bragg Circle, Tullahoma, Tennessee 37388.
