Mary Kathryn Mentzer Bixler, 82, Brethren Vlllage formerly of Reading, died Thursday at home after a brief illness.
She was a clerk at Raylon Beauty Supply Co.
and the Bookmart Bookstore, both in Reading, prior to retirement.
A 1935 graduate of Rothsville High School she trained to be a nanny at Preston Retreat Hospital for a year.
Born in Blue Ball, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Katie Coldren Mentzer.
She was married to Earl Bixler, who died in 1979.
Surviving are three brothers: Robert, married to
Jane Fassnacht Mentzer, and Parke, married to Ruby Grover Mentzer, both of Lancaster, and
Charles Mentzer of Wellsboro;and a sister: Grace Mentzer Martin of Lancaster.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Earl Mentzer.
