Frances E. (DOBBINS) BAKER, eldest child of Daniel and Rachel DOBBINS, was born January 5, 1851, in Jackson Township, Greene County, and she departed this life March 13, 1926, aged seventy-five years, two months and eight days.

She was married to Hiram BAKER, February 13, 1870. She had been married fifty-six years and one month at the time of her death. To this union were born eight children—two sons, Emmet and Everett, and six daughters, one of whom, Vercie, died in infancy. The living daughters are Mrs. Della HAYES, Fairplay Township; Mrs. Florence MULLIS and Mrs. Erie MULLIS, both of Jackson Township; Mrs. Esta JACKSON and Mrs. Velma FLOYD, both of Richland Township. She leaves thirty-five grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, in whose memory she will long live. She had one brother and one sister. The sister, Mrs. Florence ASHCRAFT, of St. Paul, Kansas, died three years ago, and the brother has been dead much longer. She also had a number of half-brothers and half-sisters, who were dear to her, but these have all gone before her.

She united with the Methodist Church in her early teens, and in later years she united with the Christian Church, of which her husband was also a member.

She made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Esta JACKSON where she peacefully, so peacefully, fell asleep, when she had finished the work God had given her to do. She was just waiting her Master’s call to come up higher. The funeral services were held at Walnut Grove, Monday, March 15, Elder T. A. COX, of Bloomfield, officiating. Interment was in the cemetery there. “The hour is coming when she will hear the voice of Jesus and come forth.”
