Rattlesnake's Bite Is Fatal To Child Here
Indora Jean Baillie, the four-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Baillie of Cave Creek, died early yesterday morning at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Emma Lalande, 600 North Third street, from the effects of a rattlesnake bite, received late Sunday afternoon.
The little girl was bitten by the snake about 5:30 o'clock while she was playing near the door step of the family home at Cave Creek. Discovery that the child had been attacked by a rattlesnake and bitten was made by the parents immediately after the snake had struck.
First aid was administered at once by the parents after which the injured girl was placed in an automobile and rushed to St. Joseph's hospital in Phoenix.
An operation was performed shortly before 8 o'clock Sunday evening to counteract the bite, and the little girl was removed to the home of her aunt near by the hospital.
The efforts to stave off the fatal effects of the poison from the fangs of the rattlesnake were of no avail and the stricken child died early yesterday morning.
The remains will be taken to Wickenburg Wednesday, where they will be buried in the Wickenburg Cemetery.
