ECKHART - Joanne Porter, 60, of Eckhart, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 1992, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born on Feb. 17, 1932 in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Jane (Lewis) Brode. Mrs. Porter owned and operated her own beauty shop and was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ. She was also an EMT who served nine years with the Frostburg Area Ambulance Service. Survivors include her husband, James W. Porter; one son, James W. Porter Jr., Grahamtown; two daughters, Anita L. Porter, Anchorage, Alaska, Carole S. Ryan, Eckhart; four sisters, Mae Maurer, Frostburg; Alma Vandegrift, Fairmont, W.Va.; Mary Virginia Stanley and Annette Sensabaugh, both of Hagerstown; two brothers, Andrew Brode, Ruidoso, N.M., Robert O. Brode, Parkersburg, W.Va.; and two grandchildren, Corey S. Porter and Katie S. Ryan. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted there at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Joseph L. Ward and the Rev. Donald F. Souse. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland. Pallbearers are Corey S. Porter, Floyd Vandergrift, Phillip Brode, James Shuck, Bernard Zlomek and Marshall Lancaster.
