KATHERINE MAE "KATHY" GIBBS
March 1, 1947 - December 11, 2013

Kathy was born in New York, New York on March 1, 1947 and passed away at home in Murrieta, California on December 11, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 45 years Rick Gibbs; daughter Jennifer Cheatham (Stephen); son Richard Gibbs (Robin); son Timothy Gibbs (Molly Brassil); 6 grandchildren; 2 sisters; and her brother. She was preceded in death by her parents and another brother. Professionally Kathy worked as a registered nurse for over 30 years. In this capacity and being a military wife, she touched many lives to whom she provided comfort at military duty stations all over the world. Kathy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandma, and sister of which she took great pride in. She knew how to get things done and was often called upon. When her children were in high school, she became an adopted mom to many of her kid's friends who often confided in her. Kathy enjoyed reading, doing crafts, home design, taking care of her dogs, and saving lives in the E.R. Her family and friends will miss her loyal spirit, her patriotism, her strong mind, and her faithful ways. A viewing will be held on Sunday 12/15 from 4 - 7 p.m. at Evans Brown Sun City Chapel. A funeral mass will take place on Monday, 12/16 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Martha's Catholic Church. Private interment will be at Riverside National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Lustgarten Foundation either online at lustgarten.org or to The Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage, NY 11714.
