Bernice L. Kademan, age 94, of Colby, formerly of Spencer, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield surrounded by her loving family. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at First United Church of Christ in Colby. Pastor Teri Hanson will officiate. Interment will be held in the Colby Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome from 9:30 AM until time of service Saturday at the church.

Bernice was born on the family farm in Curtiss on January 28, 1922, the daughter of Edwin and Hulda (Neuhaus) Strade. She attended Clovernook School. Bernice was united in marriage to Leonard Kademan on November 4, 1939 at Curtiss Evangelical Reformed Church. He preceded her in death on November 30, 2015. Together they farmed near Curtiss until 1972 when they moved to Spencer.

Bernice was a member of First United Church of Christ. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, knitting afghans, reading and solving crossword puzzles. The family attributed her long life to their home grown vegetables. She also made a lot of homemade bread which everyone enjoyed. Most importantly, Bernice loved spending time with her family, her sister-in-law, Marie, whom she missed dearly after she passed away and her good neighbors.

Bernice is survived by three children: Lois Block of Colby, Judy (Richard) Koplitz-Bunkelman of Wausau and Ken (Mary) Kademan of Marshfield; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. She is further survived by her sister, Jeanette Telford of Colby; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren: Scott Koplitz and Jill Block; her sister, Dolores Knutson and two sons-in-law: John Block and Marvin Koplitz.
