When Barbara Elizabeth Furlong was born on 17 November 1852, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, her father, Peter Thomas Furlong (1819-1865), was 33 and her mother, Margaret Jane Campbell (1824-1885), was 28. She married John Taylor Hales (1853-1926) on 23 November 1874, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 3 daughters. She died on 13 October 1924, in Spanish Fork, Utah, Utah, at the age of 71, and was buried in Spanish Fork City Cemetery, Spanish Fork, Utah, Utah.

MORMON PIONEER OVERLAND TRAIL. Barbara Elizabeth Furlong was part of the Utah Mormon Pioneer Overland Travel migration between 1847-1868. She traveled with Jacob F. Secrist/Noah T. Guymon Company in 1855.
