Funeral service for Sara Bivins Barnett will be Held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, at First Baptist Church of Ridgeway, conducted by the Rev. Verlin E. Barnett Jr. and the Rev. William Calhoun. Burial will follow in Aimwell Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. today at Pope Funeral Home of Winnsboro.
Mrs. Barnett, 92, widow of Verlin E. Barnett, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999.
Born in Haddock, Ga., March 5, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Jackson C. Bivins and Mattie Belle Skinner Bivins.
She was a graduate of the University of Georgia and had taught school in Ridgeway for many years. She was a very active member of First Baptist Church of Ridgeway where she had taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of Ridgeway Garden Club and had been an active leader in the Girl Scouts of America.
Mrs. Barnett had been a resident of the Clemson Downs Retirement Center for the past 12 years.
Surviving: two sons, William J. Barnett, Pawleys Island, and the Rev. Verlin E. Barnett Jr., Akron, Ohio; one daughter, Mrs. William (Louise) Beha, Fairfax Station, Va.; one brother, Lucius Bivins, Tallahassee, Fla.; six grandchildren, Cheryl Barnett Cleveland, Indianapolis, Ind.; William J. "Jack" Barnett Jr., Fords, N.J., Dawn Barnett Ferguson, Greer, Sara Jordan Barnett, Raleigh, N.C., Jennifer Beha Murillo, Alexandria, Va., Steven Verlin Beha, Fairfax Station, Va.; and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeced in death by a grandson, Brian Beha who died in 1987.
