SAM RICHARD SUMNER, 77, of Lakeland, died Thursday. He was a native of Wauchula and came to Lakeland 70 years ago from Pierce. He was retired from the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad. He was a member of All Saint's Episcopal Church. He is survived by his wife, Emellne; three daughters, Shirley Freeman of Brandon, Sally Sue Hirsch of Tampa and Sondra Simon of Lakeland; two sisters, Lucille Hardaker of Lakeland and Edgie Hayman of Tampa; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
