In the early morning hours of Sunday, September 14, 1919, a hurricane made landfall in Corpus Christi. The official death toll was 284, estimates place the actual number at one thousand. The Fairview Section, where this grave is located, contains many headstones recording September 14th 1919 death dates. I have not confirmed that this person was a hurricane victim, however, the history of the area leads me to believe that is the case.
